    Blenheim Aquatic Centre

Blenheim 450 kg Xypex Admix C-1000 NF, along with 1,000 m of Kuniseal C-31DS waterstop, were utilised as the waterproofing system for the pools and balance tanks in this large Aquatic centre. The centre serves as part of a major sporting complex in the heart of Blenheim. Pull-off adhesion tests were performed by Mapei, who were supplying the tiles to be stuck to the Xypex treated concrete, and these proved appropriate adhesion could be achieved using their cementitious adhesives combined with a latex compound. A Mapei epoxy adhesive was also tested with excellent results, as expected.

    Parnell Baths

Parnell, Auckland Approximately 1,260 kg of Xypex Admix C-1000 NF, 16 tonnes of Denka CSA and MS600 were combined to provide a shrinkage compensated, waterproof and durable floor slab as part of the Parnell Baths upgrade. The floor was poured as two slabs, with two new in situ cast end walls containing Xypex Admix and MS600 completing the new structures. During 2009, Xypex Patch'n Plug was used to stem water flow through the old seawall of the balance tank under the wooden decking, while the common pool wall within the balance tank was coated with two coats of Xypex Concentrate/Gamma Cure to address fine cracks and extend the serviceable life of this popular seawater pool. This was performed by Aquastop and specified through GHD.

    Selwyn Aquatic Centre

Selwyn District, Rolleston Approximately 2,148 kg of Xypex Admix C-1000 NF was specified into the 40 MPa pool floors, walls, balance tanks and concourse concrete for this new pool to service the Selwyn District Council, just South of Christchurch. A total of 83.4 m3 of precast concrete was included (supplied via Smith Crane Precast) with the bulk of the in situ cast concrete comprising 731.6 m3. A waterstop was applied to associated construction joints via Adhesion Sealing. Some areas of more aggressive chemical action utilised the combination of Xypex Admix with MS600 for enhanced durability and waterproofing. Adhesion sealing subsequently applied a coat of Xypex Gamma Cure/Concentrate/Gamma Cure to 362 m2 of concrete drainage pipes servicing the pool complex.
