  • Al Kadaro New Slaughterhouse Water Treatment Plant, Khartoum

    Khartoum, Sudan

A pivotal aspect of the project was ensuring the integrity and functionality of crucial water-retaining structures, including wastewater treatment units and other concrete tanks. To this end, Xypex Admix C-1000 NF was selected for its unparalleled ability to provide a comprehensive and permanent waterproofing solution and enhanced chemical resistance. This admixture, introduced into the concrete at the batching stage, negates the necessity for post-application waterproofing methods, thereby optimizing the construction timeline.

Xypex Admix C-1000 NF works by chemically reacting with moisture present in the concrete to form an insoluble crystalline matrix within the concrete’s microstructure. This matrix effectively seals the concrete’s capillaries and micro-cracks, making the material impervious to water and chemically resistant. Moreover, its self-healing property ensures that any new cracks, up to 0.5 mm, that may develop are self healed, resulting in the long-term durability of the Al Kadaro Slaughterhouse's water-retaining and wastewater structures. With the inclusion of Xypex admix, these structures are protected against water infiltration and exfiltration, crucial for maintaining the structural integrity and preventing environmental contamination.

The application of Xypex Admix C-1000 NF at the Al Kadaro Slaughterhouse not only resolved the immediate waterproofing requirements but also set a new standard for the construction of industrial and wastewater facilities in Sudan. By leveraging the advanced Xypex Crystalline Technology, the project team ensured Al Kadaro Slaughterhouse’s role in advancing Sudan’s economic development.
