    Wastewater Collection and Treatment – Plateau St-Louis

    The project includes new reinforced concrete elements associated with a wastewater treatment plant. The structures are subject to conditions conducive to microbial induced corrosion (MIC) as well as prolonged exposure to aggressive chemicals present in wastewater. The project was delivered under construction schedule constraints and limited budget resources, requiring a durable solution that could be implemented efficiently with minimal installation steps.

    Xypex Admix C-500 NF and Xypex Bio-San crystalline waterproofing admixtures were specified and added to the concrete at the time of batching. Crystalline technology reacts with moisture and cement hydration by-products to form insoluble crystals that reduce concrete permeability and provide permanent waterproofing. The addition of Xypex Bio-San provides antimicrobial protection against microbial induced corrosion (MIC). The selected solution enhanced concrete durability, reduced on site labor requirements, and reduced long term maintenance needs for municipal wastewater infrastructure.
