Project Detail
  • Nampa Wastewater Treatment Plant Headworks Replacement

    Nampa, USA

The original project specification called for a traditional epoxy coating system to protect concrete structures from microbial-induced corrosion resulting from wastewater exposure. During the design and construction process, the project team evaluated Xypex Bio-San crystalline technology as an alternative approach to corrosion protection. Following technical review, Xypex Bio-San admixture was selected in lieu of coatings and traditional liners.

The integral approach provides waterproofing and antimicrobial protection throughout the concrete section while reducing construction complexity and schedule impacts. The change also eliminated the long-term maintenance requirements typically associated with coatings and liners. Xypex Bio-San was incorporated into more than 2,000 cubic yards of concrete placed for wastewater containing structures. Xypex Patch’n Plug and Xypex Concentrate were applied for tie hole, joint, and crack repairs. The use of Xypex Bio-San provided permanent waterproofing and corrosion protection while delivering both immediate cost savings and long-term lifecycle benefits. The selected solution supports durable performance and reduced maintenance for critical wastewater infrastructure serving the City of Nampa.
