Project Detail
  • Purgatory Metro District Wastewater Treatment Plant

    La Plata County, USA

The facility is designed as a fully self-contained treatment plant utilizing advanced Aerobic Granular Sludge process technology to achieve high effluent quality while maintaining operational efficiency. Key project components include a fine screen, influent equalization basin, aerobic sludge storage and digestion basin, and scalable treatment systems designed to meet current effluent standards and accommodate future requirements.

To protect concrete elements exposed to corrosive wastewater headspace environments, Xypex Bio-San was selected as an integral concrete treatment. The product was incorporated into hollow core roofing concrete elements to provide protection against microbial-induced corrosion associated with hydrogen sulfide exposure. Approximately 180 cubic yards of precast concrete incorporating Xypex Bio-San were produced by Coreslab in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The integral crystalline system provides integrated protection, inhibits microbial activity, and enhances the durability of concrete elements exposed to aggressive wastewater conditions, supporting long-term performance of critical treatment infrastructure.
