Project Detail
  • Behavioral Health Institute – New Forensic Unit

    Las Vegas, New Mexico, USA

The approximately 115,000 square foot facility is designed to provide a modern, secure treatment environment while supporting long-term operational efficiency and enhanced safety. The project includes extensive below grade construction requiring durable concrete protection against groundwater infiltration. Given the critical nature of the facility and long service life expectations, the design team selected an integrated waterproofing solution to enhance concrete durability and reduce future maintenance needs.

Approximately 1,100 cubic yards of concrete incorporating Xypex Admix C-500 were placed for below grade structures. Added at the time of batching, the crystalline admixture reacts with moisture and unhydrated cementitious materials to form insoluble crystals that reduce permeability and limit water ingress throughout the concrete section. The use of Xypex Admix C-500 provided permanent, through section waterproofing protection without reliance on surface applied membranes. This approach supports long term durability, minimizes lifecycle maintenance requirements, and contributes to reliable performance of critical healthcare infrastructure.
