Project Detail
  • Sayga Flour Mills Basement

    Khartoum North (Bahri), Sudan

Prior to rehabilitation, the project faced increasing number of water infiltration issues which not only jeopardized the building's structural integrity but also threatened the mill's operational efficiency. After careful consideration, Protech Engineering Co. Ltd was appointed as the waterproofing contractor, leveraging their extensive expertise in tackling industrial-scale waterproofing challenges.

To efficiently address the leakage due to the high hydrostatic pressure, the project team chose the unique Xypex Crystalline Technology for its 55 years of proven track record. The cornerstone of this rehabilitation effort was the application of Xypex Concentrate, a cementitious mix known for its exceptional waterproofing capabilities. Xypex Concentrate may be applied on both the positive and negative sides to wet concrete. The Xypex Concentrate renders the concrete permanently waterproofed and chemically resistant, with the added benefit of self-healing cracks up to 0.5 mm, thereby ensuring long-term protection and enhancing the durability of the structure.

The successful application of Xypex Concentrate effectively stopped water infiltration into the building, safeguarded the mill's infrastructure and ensured the continuity of its operations. This project not only underscored the efficacy of Xypex products in industrial applications but also reinforced the reputation of Sayga Flour Mills and DAL Group for upholding the highest standards of excellence.
